Rhode Island is not immediately thought of as one of the many great vacation areas in America. While it is not nearly as popular as other locations like Southern California, Florida, or Hawaii, it does offer some very unique experiences. Travelers heading to Rhode Island will get the chance to experience a relaxing and laid back location that embraces its rich history and prides itself in offering the kind of important cultural experiences that other destinations simply don't even attempt to offer. With that in mind, here are just three of the many great things there are to see and do on a vacation to Rhode Island.
Go Kayaking On Block Island
Block Island is a gorgeous little island that offers a very relaxing vacation opportunity. It's possible to ferry out to the island and the ride across the water is just one of the many things to do there. There are lighthouses to visit, beaches to explore, and marinas to see. One of the best way to see all these things, plus the natural areas of the island too, is by kayak.
WaterFire
Located in various locations around the city of Providence are a wide variety of bonfire sites. These fires are lit in the evenings during the summer months as part of a very unique outdoor sculpture. Music is also played during the lighting of the bonfires and the overall experience is like nothing else offered in any other city.
Cliff Walk
Located in Newport, Cliff Walk is a three and a half mile long walkway that offers amazing views from the cliffs high above the rugged coastline in the area. The walkway borders the back lawns of the historic Newport Mansions that were once the vacation homes of the East Coast's rich and famous.
